Abstract

We have entered an age where information is abundant, and change is rapid. The swift speed of change requires us to think fast, decide quickly, and move like the wind. At the same time, we need to have a thorough understanding and a great deal of time to prudently process all the information at hand and to not include fallacious details or misinterpret knowledge. This is a prevailing concern in every field, and dentistry is not spared from it. We set forth our scientific journal “Updates in Dentistry” to support our peers and colleagues by breaking down crucial research from the complex spectrum of healthcare research. Our processes are transparent and the information we will provide be simple, direct and easily applicable.

There is an idiom used in computing - garbage in, garbage out (GIGO) - which has been a customary concern in all affairs these days. Dentistry is not untouched by it. It has been highlighted in evidence-based dentistry from time to time. At variance with GIGO, another idiom exists, i.e., quality in, quality out (QIQO), which is the fundamental principle for setting up our journal, Updates in Dentistry.
